Description
The
FOS line of all optical, power-by-light communications earplugs
provides a communication earplug without electrical wiring and
connections or electromechanical transducers. Power and the communication signal are provided by an
optical signal delivered through a fiber optic cable.
The
fiber optic delivery is insensitive to EMI effects, does not radiate
signal information and can be run over very long distances without
electrical power for amplifiers or repeaters.
The
earplug audio output is driven with an optical to acoustic transducer driven by a fiber coupled laser diode at 980nm.
